The California Education Technology K-12 Voucher Program application process ends June 30, 2008.

Districts apply for the program on behalf of all their eligible kindergarten through grade twelve schools. Vouchers will be distributed on a rolling basis by the court-appointed Settlement Claims Administrator to districts that complete applications.

When an application is submitted online, it will be reviewed by the California Department of Education (CDE). The CDE will either approve the application or contact the district for any additional information necessary for approval. After an application is approved, the Settlement Claims Administrator will send out a notification letter along with the district’s balance statement and voucher redemption form. On that same day, district allocations will appear in the Balance Statements view of this website.

If you have any questions, you may refer to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) link on the left side of this page or contact the Settlement Claims Administrator at 1-800-419-5286.

Product and Service Eligibility Inquiries:

The Settlement Claims Administrator responds to product and service inquiries from schools and districts. For information on how to submit a product or service inquiry, click on Product Eligibility Information on the left navigation pane.

Caution:  Be wary of vendor marketing.  It is the responsibility of the school district to confirm the eligibility of a specific product or service.  If you are unsure of the eligibility of a product or service, contact the Settlement Claims Administrator toll-free at 1-800-419-5286. Only the Settlement Claims Administrator can confirm eligibility of a specific product or service. Even if a vendor is an “approved provider” for IT Support Services and/or Professional Development Services, that does not mean that all of the specific products and services sold by that vendor are approved under the settlement.

The California Education Technology K-12 Voucher Program is the result of the settlement of a class-action lawsuit brought by California consumers and businesses concerning certain Microsoft software. As part of this Settlement, if the total amount of vouchers claimed and redeemed by the Class is less than $1.1 billion, vouchers worth two-thirds of the remainder will be distributed to public schools in California that have at least 40% of their students from low-income households.
